Privacy Policy

Muddah is designed to be private by default. It works entirely on your device.

Data we collect

None. Muddah does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. There is no account and no sign-in. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Where your data lives

The documents, family members, expiry dates, notes, and any photos or scans you attach are stored only in Muddah's local storage on your device, protected by iOS Data Protection. This information is never uploaded to us or to any cloud service. iCloud and server sync are off; Muddah has no server.

Notifications

Expiry reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device using local notifications. No reminder content leaves your device. You can turn notifications on or off at any time in iOS Settings, choose what time of day they arrive, and hide names from lock-screen notifications inside Muddah.

Notes you write on a document are never included in a notification.

Camera

If you scan a document, Muddah uses the camera only to capture that document. The scan is turned into a PDF and stored in Muddah's local storage on your device. Reading the expiry date out of a scan also happens entirely on your device, using Apple's on-device text recognition. No image and no recognised text is ever uploaded.

Face ID

If you enable the app lock, Muddah uses Face ID or your device passcode only to unlock the app on this device. Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS and is never accessible to, or stored by, Muddah.

Export and import

Exporting writes a JSON file containing your documents and family members, which you then choose where to send. Photos and scans are not included in that file. Once you share the file, it is outside Muddah's control, so treat it like any other copy of your documents.

Your control

You can delete everything from inside the app at any time (Settings › Delete all data). Because all data is local, deleting the app also removes all of your data from the device. There is nothing stored elsewhere for us to delete.

Not affiliated with any government

Muddah is a personal record-keeping and reminder tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government or government service, and it does not provide legal or immigration advice.

How the Android version handles your data

The following describes the Android version (Android 8.0 and later). Everything above applies to iOS; only the points below differ on Android.

Your records are stored in a local database (Room) on your device. They are never sent to the developer's servers.

Both cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are disabled (allowBackup="false" plus data_extraction_rules.xml). To move to a new device, export a backup yourself from inside the app.

The only external service used is Google Play Billing (purchases). Google processes all payments; card details never reach the developer.

The only device permissions the app requests are showing notifications and biometric unlock. Each is asked for only when you use the matching feature, and declining leaves the rest of the app usable.

Uninstalling the app deletes the data on your device. With backup and transfer disabled, no copy remains outside it.

Controller, contact and your rights

This app is provided by freetokyo, an independent developer, who acts as the data controller. For any question about this policy or about personal data, contact freetokyo2020@yahoo.co.jp. We normally reply within five business days.

If you are in the EU, the EEA or the UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your personal data, to withdraw consent and to object to processing. You may also lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know, delete and correct the personal information collected about you, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information.

Where this app stores data only on your device, we have no access to it, so most of these rights are exercised directly on the device: delete or export inside the app, or delete the app. We will still answer any request you send us.

Retention: on-device data is kept until you delete it or remove the app. Support emails are deleted 24 months after the request is closed.
